Threshold and Continuum of Need Training for Education Settings

This is a series of sessions to be delivered in Autumn term 2025, to support education settings in view of the threshold guidance. Venues have been chosen around the county, over various dates. to try to ensure capacity for schools to attend the training face to face. Initially, one place per school. If you book a place and cannot attend, please ensure you cancel off to allow any others on the waitlists.

The Safeguarding In Education Team have their annual conference on the 8^th October 2025. If you plan to attend this, there will be an option to attend a shortened version of this briefing in the afternoon sessions too. The booking link will be sent in September separately for this.

This session aims to develop participants' confidence in applying thresholds in line with Lancashire's updated continuum of need and signposting families to access the right support at the right time.

Objectives:

At the end of the course participants will be able to:  

- Demonstrate familiarity with Lancashire’s threshold document ’Working Well with Children and Families’, and the updated Continuum of Need.  

- Describe how thresholds are applied in practice and what factors may influence decision making.

The session will be co-delivered by Tonya Harrison, Principal Social Worker and Amanda Richardson-Roe, Head of Front Door (MASH) Assessment and Duty.
